Although it was unveiled in 2025, the first units had been manufactured a few months earlier
Developed in the Custom Shop by master builder Paul Waller, Troposphere Stratocaster pickups are underwound, sweet-sounding pickups that allow more headroom with overdriven sounds and clean up for the most delicate tones to emerge. It’s a calibrated pickup set with ’50s-style formvar wire on the bridge pickup, a reverse-wound/reverse-polarity middle pickup, and ’60s-style enamel wire on the neck pickup. Formvar magnet wire on bridge and middle, plain enamel wire on neck. Alnico 5 beveled magnets, Wax dipped, DC Resistence: Bridge 5.37k, Middle 5.52k, Neck 5.4k, Cloth lead wires.

Embodying Fender Custom Shop craftsmanship and modern refinements, the Postmodern Stratocaster DLX Closet Classic conjures classic Strat tone and vibe. The select 2-piece select ash body wears a nitrocellulose lacquer finish in 2-Color Sunburst [or Super Faded HLE Gold], relic'd to look gently aged and played-in. The quartersawn maple [or rosewood] neck has a '60s Oval "C" Back-Shape, making this Strat a joy to play for hours on end. The neck is either all-rosewood or quartersawn maple with 21 narrow tall frets.
Three Custom Shop Hand-Wound Troposphere single-coil pickups capture the bell-like tone that made the Stratocaster a legend. The reverse-wound, reverse-polarity middle pickup helps eliminate hum. A 5-way blade switch provides access to a palette of classic Strat tones. Greasebucket tone circuitry allows you to roll back the volume without losing highs.
