After leaving the Vintage Series, 2018 witnessed the birth of a new series dedicated to the world of the vintage Stratocasters, the Vintage Custom Series, produced by the Custom Shop.
The first instruments of this series were based on the first 1959 models, real watersheds in Fender world, and on 1955 Stratocasters, to which were applied some small modifications to make these guitars more comfortable. The most important news regarding the Vintage Custom Series was the new aging level named Time Capsule, which combined NOS paints with Closet Classic hardware: “the Time Capsule package grants these instruments the charming appearance, authentic sound and genuine mojo of an extremely lucky vintage find.”
The Vintage Custom 1955 Stratocaster combined a premium ash body with a’54 "U" shaped rift sawn maple neck, whose fretboard had a compound radius (7.25” - 9.5”). It featured three Custom Shop Hand-Wound '55 Single-Coil Strat pickups equipped with slightly blunt covers which Fender called “transitional”.
