The ExTrad series was a made-in-Japan series that was not well known in Europe or the United States, because it was only intended for the Japanese domestic market.
The term "ExTrad" stood for "extra traditional" because these instruments were not only very accurate replicas of Fender guitars of the past, but were designed to be aesthetically perfect, very resonant and represented the best that Japanese lutherie could offer. They were custom-order guitars built in the Fujigen factory's Custom Shop, which consisted of a small group of highly specialized luthiers who had studied Fenders extensively and used only selected wood and high-quality materials.
In 1992 a special ExTrad was also made, the 35th Anniversary '57 Stratocaster, to 'celebrate' one of the two years always taken as a reference for reissues: 1957. This model had a 2-Colour Sunburst nitrocellulose-finished Sen body, a beautiful bird's eye maple neck and a commemorative neck plate.
I replaced the pickups with Celentano XX 60s.
