Replaces American Vintage '62 Stratocaster
Replaced by American Original '60s Stratocaster
The first 46 units from the first production of this instrument will have a commemorative Special Edition 1st 46 neck plate. These neck plates commemorate the fact that Fender was founded in 1946, as well as the fact that Fender is releasing the most accurate and beautiful Fender reissue instruments ever from key historical years. The neck plate will serve as an indicator that these “1st 46” models were the first of their kind to be built, as well as add an element of collectability to these first run instruments. The serial numbers of the series and the 46 instruments are not sequential, and among the first 46, were a mix of colors. These units will be randomly distributed around the globe for Fender fans everywhere to have a chance to find one in their local stores.
FENDER SAYS
The 1965 Stratocaster saw the return to a thick C-shaped maple neck, this time with a round-laminated dark rosewood fingerboard and larger pearl dot inlays. It was also the first year for enamel-covered pickup wire. That’s what players will find on the American Vintage ’65 Stratocaster, along with other authentic features including a three-ply white pickguard with 11 holes, lightweight alder body, aged plastic knobs and vintage-accurate pickups, bridge saddles, tuner spacing and more.
